Cedar Bark Weaving
Native Americans of the Northwest Coast are known for utilizing the various Cedar trees of the region for all kinds of their material culture, including basketry. Though they share commonalities in weaving with Cedar, each tribe has its own style of weaving. For her people, basket weaving is not only a traditional form of art but continues to be a necessity. They weave their clothing, gathering baskets, cooking baskets, storage baskets, fishing and hunting gear, blankets, baby baskets and their eating utensils. Our cedar weaving classes are currently on hold.
